Fire extinguishing systems with fluorides
• Fire extinguishing systems with extinguishing agent FM-200 (Heptafluoropropane HFC-227 ea)
• Fire extinguishing systems with extinguishing agent FE-13 (Trifluoromethane)
• Fire extinguishing systems with extinguishing agent NAF S-125 (Pentafluoromethane HFC-125)
Main characteristics:
o Fast and safety suppression of the fire in less than 10 seconds: All fluorides are exceptionally effective extinguishing agents with discharge time not exceeding 10 seconds. Stopping the fire in these critical first few seconds before the fire can develop is very important factor of security. The efficiency of the systems is duo to their mechanism of extinguishing. The primary action is through the physical cooling of the fire at molecular level. The fluorides belong to the same family of compounds used in refrigeration and is therefore an efficient heat transfer agents. They remove heat energy from the fire to the extent that the combustion reaction cannot be sustained. In addition, there is a chemical extinguishing action. Free radicals are released in the fire and these ultimately inhibit the chain reaction of combustion.
o Fire protection for high ceiling (7,5 m) and low temperature (–40 о С) applications: Because of FE-13's unique combination of low boiling point and high vapor pressure, the systems are useful for specific area of applications such as spaces with very low temperatures (– 40 о С) and high ceilings (7,5 m). Furthermore, due to physical properties of the agent FE-13, protection of high ceilinged spaces is possible with a minimum number of nozzles.o High safety level for people: Especially adequate for inerting protection of occupied spaces which require both a high agent concentration and safety por personnel occupying the area. The fluorides stop the fire in less than 10 seconds with high concentration of oxygen in the air. There is no risk for people, for their normal activity and breathing. Most FE-13 systems are designed to a concentration of 15,9 % whereas the standard level of this extinguishing agent is 50%. Currently the extinguishing agent FE-13 has the highest safety level for people.
o Safe for sensitive electronic equipment: The fluorides are electrically non-conductive and non-corrosive and therefore safe for use in areas with active electrical equipment. The high boiling point of the agent FM-200 combined with the proper system installation guards against the dangers of thermal shock to electronic equipment. o Suppression class А and class В fires: The extinguishing agent FM-200 is especially suitable for firefighting class A and class B fires with minimal damages for property and equipment and simultaneously safe for people.
o Clean fire suppression with no residue and no after event clean up: The fluorides are clean extinguishing agents. They leave no particles or oily residues to clean up after the discharge or in the event of fire. Damages caused by the extinguishing to delicate equipment and instruments are eliminated.
o Flexible adaptability and protection against accidental actuation due to any small leak: The installation may be modular or centralized. Individual cylinders, located near the hazard to be protected, form modular systems. Centralized systems are formed by a cylinder bank, which may be fitted with selector valves for the protection of several hazards. Allows checking and maintenance of all critical elements contained in a fixed extinguishing system, thus preventing the risk of accidental discharge. The system includes discharge nozzles specially designed to enhance the properties of the extinguishing agents. Nozzles are suitable for use in hazard of up to 7,5 m and available for coverage of 180o and 360o.
o Safe for environment: Fluorides are colourless, odourless, electrically nonconductive and have a zero ozone depletion potential.
o Compliance with ISO 14520
A wide field of application:
Suitable for protection of expensive electronic instruments, computers, software, data files, communication equipment or sophisticated medical devices. Completely solve the problem of extinguishing in industrial conditions as they using in machines rooms, turbines, refinery control areas, gas and oil processing industries, mining machinery, electric power stations, storage areas, control rooms with electrical equipment, etc.
