Belgium-based consumer electronics, automotive and personal communication company Epiq will invest 1.5 mln euro next year to increase the output capacity and diversify the product range of its Botevgrad-based subsidiary Epiq Electronic Assembly, said Nikolai Berov, manager of the Bulgarian plant.
The bulk of the investment spending is earmarked for the launch of a new production line for auto exhaust sensors. The equipment is expected to become operational by March 2005.
Epiq Electronic Assembly was founded in 1997 as a multi-product company with core expertise in manual and automated assembly of electronic components on PCB, board testing, module assembly, plastic injection moulding, chip on board assembly and development and manufacturing of plastic injection moulds and factory automation equipment.
The Botevgrad-based plant posted turnover of 42 mln euro in 2003 and intends to double the fire by end-2006. Sales were at 40 mln euro in January-October 2004. The parent company has sunk over 15 mln euro in the Bulgarian plant so far. The automotive production division generated more than 70% of 2003's sales while home appliances added 20%.
