Data transmission under protocol IEC60870-5-104 to
an electricity distribution system operator.
The Anybus® SG-gateway is designed to specifically target Demand Response (networking of industrial electric loads) and Virtual Power Plants (networking of energy resources like biogas plants or combined heat and power units) applications.
The SG-gateway with I/O interface is a remote terminal unit for the energy market with four digital inputs and four digital outputs for monitoring and controlling the connected devices.
It supports the communication protocols used in the energy sector, e.g. IEC60870-5-104, DNP3 and IEC61850. The gateway can support the connected electric equipment in the field, via an Ethernet interface and/or a serial port, using the protocols Modbus TCP and RTU. As an option, the SG-gateway can also include 3G modem.
The application logic can be programmed on the device either using the integrated intuitive graphical web editor.
On the drawing below a solution for transmission of data to the electricity distribution system operator is presented.
Data transmitted are coming from a natural gas conversion device, two heat meters and a generator. The data are transmitted to the control system of the distribution system operator by built-in 3G modem, under protocol IEC60870-5-104.
The analog signals from the generator and one of the heat meters enter to the PLC, and then to the SG gateway under protocol MODBUS TCP/ IP.
Data from the second heat meter and the gas conversion device are transmitted directly to the gateway via RS485 and Modbus RTU.
